Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan has warned that printing presses found involved in irregularities will not be awarded textbook printing contracts next year.

He made the remarks at an event at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, on Saturday.

The minister urged printing press owners to maintain quality and follow the required standards, saying a press found involved in irregularities once would be excluded from future textbook printing work.

He said local printing presses were cooperating with the government and expressed hope that quality textbooks would be supplied to students on time at the beginning of the academic year.

The minister also said textbook printing had previously been done in India, while this year local presses were handling the work.
