Trader hacked to death in Bagerhat

A trader was hacked to death following an argument over the quality of a juice pack at Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Mujahid Molla, 40, son of Sarwar Jahan Molla from Hijla village of the upazila.

According to local sources, the incident occurred around 7:00 AM while a local youth named Bayezid Izadar purchased a juice pack from his shop and complained that the product was spoiled. When Mujahid tasted the juice himself and insisted it was fine a heated altercation ensued.

At one point during the argument, Bayezid allegedly attacked Mujahid with a sharp weapon, slashing him across the neck. 

Mujahid was rushed to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Chitalmari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nazrul Islam, confirmed that police visited the scene immediately following the incident. 

The suspect, Bayezid Izadar son of Badsha Izadar from the same village has been arrested in connection with the killing, the OC added.
