Youth gets life term in Narayanganj drug case

NARAYANGANJ, July 24: Narayanganj Sessions Judge Md Abu Shamim Azad on Wednesday afternoon sentenced a young man to life imprisonment and fined Tk 50,000, in default to serve two more years of rigorous imprisonment, in a drug case.

The convict Md Morsalin, 20, is the son of Mahbub of Bakerganj Upazila in Barishal District. However, he was absconding at the time of the verdict.

Court Police Inspector Abdus Samad said that a special operation was conducted in Sonargaon Upazila on March 28, 2025 and Morsalin was arrested along with Tk 6 lakh worth of Phensedyl and Tk 1.80 lakh worth of hemp from a room of an abandoned madrasa in the Sonapur area. Later, a case was filed with the Sonargaon Police Station in this incident. The court declared the verdict based on the evidence in that case.
