Coast Guard detains 3 cement smugglers

Three persons have been arrested in Hatiya of Noakhali with 1,360 sacks of cement that were being smuggled to Myanmar.

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized the vessel carrying the cement.

The incident took place around 3:00AM on Wednesday while conducting an operation by the Coast Guard in the Meghna River at Moulvichar.

The arrestees were identified as Abu Taher, 57, Alauddin, 42, and Nirob, 35. They are the residents of Barisal.

Coast Guard South Zone Press Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the matter and said the cement sacks were being smuggled to Myanmar.

The three suspects were later handed over to the Hatiya Police.
