Schoolboy drowns in Nartore

A schoolboy drowned in a pond on Baraiagram Upazila Parishad premises in Natore on Friday. 

The deceased was identified Tanvir Ahmed ,12, son of Mujibur Rahman of Madhabpara area in Banpara. He was a sixth-grade student at Banpara St Joseph’s School and College. 

Fire Service personnel recovered the body from the pond around 6:30PM.

According to Rafiqul Alam, second officer of the Banpara Fire Service, Tanvir went to the Upazila Parishad pond around 11AM to take a bath. But he did not return home. His family members searched for him in different places but could not find him. 

At one stage, they checked CCTV footage from the Upazila Parishad premises and saw him went to the pond to take a bath.

Getting information, Fire Service personnel started the search operation and recovered Tanvir’s body from the pond. Blood was defusing from his nose at that time.

Shafiqul Islam, officer in-charge (OC) of Baraiagram Police Station, said, "We had examined the CCTV footage but found nothing unusual."

An unnatural death case has been filed with the police station in connection with the incident.
