Police have rescued Eighth-Grade student Tafsirul Islam Ananta, 13, from the Dhaka Airport area on Friday, four days after he went missing from Kapasia in Gazipur.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Kaliganj and Kapasia Circle) Md Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter on Friday afternoon around 4:00 PM.
"The student was rescued from the airport area. We cannot confirm yet how he reached there. He is currently ill and physically very weak," the police official said.
Citing initial information provided by Ananta, he said the boy claimed someone had abducted him. However, investigators are still verifying the claim.
"We recovered blood-stained clothes and shoes earlier, but there are no injury marks on his body. We need to investigate where those blood-stained items came from. The boy is currently in our custody," he added.
Ananta, a student at Veer Uzali Model Academy in Kapasia, went missing around 1:30 PM on Tuesday during tiffin hours. He went to a nearby market from school and did not return.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam of Tok Nayan Bazar Police Investigation Centre said police recovered Ananta's blood-stained shirt, shoes, and school identity card around 4:00 PM on the day he went missing.
Asaduzzaman Asad, founder director of the school, said, "He left the school during tiffin time and never returned. We searched various places after receiving the news and later learned that his clothes and shoes were found."
"Ananta last told his classmates: 'You go ahead, I am coming'," the school director added.
Ananta's father, Sohag Rana, previously filed a general diary (GD) with Kapasia Police Station to trace his missing son.
Earlier, Additional SP Md Asaduzzaman said police were investigating all aspects of the case. They are examining how the boy accessed the third floor when the ground floor gate was locked and who might have unlocked it for him.
