Two arrested for faking as army officials, charging money

Two individuals have been apprehended in Raipur, Lakshmipur district on Monday for allegedly posing as officials of the army, blocking vehicles, and collecting money from motorists.

According to locals, the duo was performing their checks on the Basabari-Hayderganj route when their activities triggered suspicion, prompting their arrest by locals who handed them over to the police. A furious mob had also thrashed them prior to the arrival of the police.

The arrested persons include Md Sabuj Mia, 28, residing in Jhaudgi village, Raipur and Md Shakil Howladar, 40, residing in Charhogolpatia Launch Ghat, Madaripur.
