Zaheer Khan named CSK head coach

Former India pacer Zaheer Khan has been appointed head coach of Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season.

Zaheer replaces Stephen Fleming, who ended his 18-year association with the franchise after guiding CSK to five IPL titles.

The 47-year-old former left-arm pacer has extensive experience in franchise cricket after retirement. He worked with Mumbai Indians in senior coaching and development roles before joining Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor.

Zaheer has been handed a one-year contract, with the possibility of an extension. His appointment also marks his first head-coaching role in the IPL.

CSK said Zaheer’s playing experience and ability to develop young players were among the reasons behind the decision.
