Man killed in clash between two groups in Sylhet

A man was killed in a clash between two groups in the Silam area of Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Russel, son of Sharuk Mia of the Silam area.

The clash took place around 3:45 PM on Friday.

According to locals, the two groups clashed in the Silam area over a longstanding dispute. Russel was seriously injured during the clash.

He was later rescued and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Mohammad Ershadul Haque, investigation officer of Moglabazar Police Station, confirmed the incident, saying the clash took place between the two groups over a previous dispute. One person was seriously injured and died on the way to the hospital, he said.

He further said the situation in the area is currently normal and legal proceedings are underway.

The body of the deceased has been kept at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
