Dr Kamal Hossain, one of the framers of Bangladesh’s Constitution, founder of the Gono Forum, and a senior Supreme Court lawyer, is showing signs of improvement in his health.

He is currently receiving treatment at the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of Square Hospital in Dhaka and may soon be moved to a private cabin.

Senior Supreme Court lawyer Subrata Chowdhury confirmed the information on Saturday (January 3).

“Dr Kamal Hossain was admitted to the hospital in serious condition. His health has now improved and is stable compared to earlier. He is being treated in the HDU, and the doctors have said he may be shifted to a cabin,” Chowdhury said.

Dr Kamal was admitted to Square Hospital on Friday (January 2) due to a serious illness. He is reportedly suffering from lung-related complications. Chowdhury also requested prayers from the public for his speedy recovery.

The 88-year-old legal luminary had most recently attended the funeral of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia on Wednesday, December 31, at Manik Mia Avenue.

Dr Hossain is not only a prominent lawyer but also a constitutional expert who served as the head of Bangladesh’s Constitution Drafting Committee in 1972.
