A joint patrol operation has been launched in Khulna from Sunday afternoon to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the 13th national parliamentary election.
The operation involves coordinated efforts of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Coast Guard and police.
Ahead of the operation, a joint rehearsal was held at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city, followed by a press briefing by Khulna Additional District Commissioner (ADC-General) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anash. He stated that the initiative aims to restore public confidence and ensure that voters can cast their ballots without disruption.
ADC emphasised that the patrol teams would act promptly to prevent the display of illegal arms or any disturbance in the area. He also added that any information regarding illegal arms will be immediately investigated and the items seized.
Highlighting election preparedness, he said that 20 executive magistrates have been deployed across the six parliamentary constituencies in Khulna.
Additionally, judicial inquiry committees have been formed to investigate any complaints from candidates, while a law and order cell has been established to maintain overall security during the election period.
