Elderly man dies in Joypurhat road crash

An elderly van driver was killed in a head-on collision between two vans in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md Sekendar Ali, 65, a resident of Atul village under Balighata union.

According to locals, the incident occurred in the Putarbil area when Sekendar Ali was returning home from Panchbibi Bazar carrying passengers. His van collided head-on with another van loaded with potatoes coming from the opposite direction, sustaining him with serious injuries.

Later, locals rescued him and took him to Mohipur Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Joypurhat District Modern Hospital, but he died on the way.

Panchbibi Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Hafiz Md Raihan confirmed the incident.
