Youth hacked to death at Sonargaon

SONARGAON, N'GANJ Apr 6: A young man was hacked and beaten to death in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, on Sunday night following a dispute with a local gang. 

The incident occurred around 9:30 pm at Ratanpur area under Pirujpur union.

The victim, Md Liton, 31, son of Zahidul Haque from Rangpur, had been living in rented accommodation at Hamchadi area of Baidyer Bazar union. He worked at a car showroom in Signboard area of Siddhirganj.

Police and locals said Liton had longstanding enmity with "Sakib and Seven Brothers Group," who were allegedly involved in theft, robbery, and other crimes. Liton often opposed their activities, which led to repeated clashes. On Saturday, he had an altercation with the group.

Sonargaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mohibullah said the body was sent for autopsy and a case has been filed. Police have launched drives to arrest the accused.
