Two brothers drown in Sonargaon pond

SONARGAON, NARAYANGANJ, Apr 11: Two brothers drowned in a pond while playing football in Rayertek Village of Kanchpur Union in Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The deceased were Adnan Hasan Noor, 10, and Abraham Hasan Ayan, 7, sons of Ziaur Rahman from Pirojpur area of Meherpur District. They had been living with their parents in the house of Nizam Uddin Khan in Rayertek Village. Both were madrasa students.

According to the deceased's family and the locals, the two brothers were playing football near the pond. Suddenly, the ball fell into the pond. As they tried to pick the football from the pond, both drowned there. Later, the locals recovered the bodies and took to a local hospital where they were declared dead.

Confirming the matter, Narayanganj Additional Superintendent of Police (K-Circle) Imran Ahmed said that police were sent to the scene after receiving news of the incident.
