Youth drowns in Ctg pond

A youth died after drowning in a pond in Chattogram’s Boalkhali upazila on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Tayef, 15, son of Md Anwar Hossain of Yasin Talukdar Para in Purbo Shakpura area of the upazila.

According to locals, Tayef went to the pond around noon along with several friends to take a bath. At one stage, while swimming from one end of the pond to the other, he went missing under the water. Locals said the boy knew how to swim.

After a prolonged search, locals recovered his body around 4:30 PM by casting a net in the pond.

Boalkhali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahfuzur Rahman said police were sent to the spot after being informed.
