Minister Ariful inspects rail facilities during Sylhet-Jaflong project review

SREEMANGAL, Aug 1: Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury on Saturday visited Sreemangal Railway Station in Moulvibazar as part of preliminary preparations and a feasibility assessment for the proposed Sylhet-Jaflong railway line. 

The minister inspected the station after the Sylhet-bound intercity Parabat Express arrived at around 11am.

He was accompanied by Railway Secretary Md Fahimul Islam, Labour and Employment Secretary Md Abdur Rahman, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain and other senior officials from the ministries and Bangladesh Railway.

The delegation later travelled to Bhanugach Railway Station in Kamalganj Upazila, where the train made a brief stop.

Standing at the train's doorway, the minister and accompanying officials spoke with local residents, who raised various concerns about railway services and passenger inconveniences.

Ariful assured them that the issues would be addressed as quickly as possible.

During the visit, he also reviewed railway infrastructure, passenger services and overall station operations.

Local BNP leaders and activists welcomed the minister with flowers at Bhanugach Railway Station.

According to the tour schedule, the minister is inspecting railway stations and infrastructure along the route from Brahmanbaria to Sylhet to assess their current condition.
