Unidentified youth’s body recovered in N’ganj canal

Police recovered the body of an unidentified youth from a canal in Jalkuri area of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj city on Monday morning.

The deceased, estimated to be around 38 years old, has yet to be identified.

According to locals, they spotted a body floating in the water of the Brishtidhara canal in Jalkuri under Ward No. 9 of Siddhirganj around 11:00 AM and immediately informed the police.

Being informed, a team from Siddhirganj Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Siddhirganj Police Station inspector (investigation) Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

“The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. We have informed CID and PBI teams to match fingerprints in order to identify the victim,” added the official.

Police suspect the body may have been hidden beneath water hyacinths by miscreants several days ago in an attempt to conceal it.
