Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 960 pieces of Yaba pills during an anti-narcotics drive in Fulbari upazila of Kurigram district on Saturday.
The arrested was identified as Hafizur Rahman, 30, a resident of Ajoatari area under Kashipur union in the upazila.
According to a press release issued by district police on Saturday night, a team of Kurigram DB police conducted a raid in the area around noon following a tip-off.
During the drive, police arrested Hafizur Rahman red-handed from his residence with the contraband tablets worth around Tk 2.88 lakh.
Confirming the matter, Kurigram district police Media Officer and Additional Superintendent of Police (Ulipur Circle) Md Ashraful Alam, PPM, said the drive was part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign across the district.
A case has been filed with Fulbari Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, he added.
He also said that anti-narcotics operations would continue in different parts of the district.
